Albatrellus pes-caprae (Pers.:Fr.) Pouzar

Widespread, but rare, in forests of North America, this is a first report from oak forests in montane Central America. It is a highly distinctive species of Albatrellus in that it produces considerable petaloid pilei on a highly branched stipe. The reddish brown scaly pilei contrast markedly with the decurrent, conspicuously hexagonal pores of the hymenophore. Dr. J. Ginns kindly provided the i.d.
