NYBG is dedicated to education—for kids, parents, teachers, and everyone who shares a love of plants! Our Continuing Education program has been a go-to for training in floral design, landscape architecture, botany, gardening, and so much more for over a century, and we offer a rich assortment of classes and hands-on programs for kids to grow their interest in the natural world, learn about healthy eating, and connect with the environment. And our School of Professional Horticulture has been training the world’s top professional plantspeople for more than 90 years.

LuEsther T. Mertz Library

Hundreds of thousands of books, centuries of knowledge—all at your fingertips. The LuEsther T. Mertz Library is one of the world’s premier collections of botanical literature from throughout world history, and the largest such archive in the Western Hemisphere.

The Edible Academy

The Edible Academy, with a mix of indoor and outdoor learning spaces for kids and families, is your destination for learning the joys of growing your own food—planting the seed for a lifelong love of gardening, healthy eating, and caring for our natural world.

Everett Children's Adventure Garden

The Everett Children’s Adventure Garden (ECAG) is closed for restoration, updating the outdoor landscape and indoor facilities to enhance the garden’s science and nature learning opportunities, and create new areas for exploration.

Humanities Institute

NYBG’s Humanities Institute is a center for innovative thinking at the place where science and the humanities meet. Our lively community of fellows and visiting scholars makes use of the Garden’s archival collections, furthering research projects that span issues in foodways, justice, and more.
