Graduate Studies History and Alumni
The New York Botanical Garden’s Graduate Studies program has produced more than 300 graduates with Ph.D.s and Master’s degrees since our first students came through the program in 1900. Graduate Studies alumni work around the world as researchers, university professors, high school teachers, in government agencies, non profits, NGOs, and in private industry. Approximately 25% of program graduates are from outside of the United States, including, including 16 from Colombia and 10 from Brazil, with many of these scientists returning to their biodiversity rich home countries. Program alumni currently work as botanists 24 countries, and in 27 states in the U.S.A.
