Andrew Carnegie Distinguished Lecture 2019: Saving a Livable World

Thursday, October 10, 2019

6 p.m.

Presented by Sir Robert Watson
In Conversation with Dr. Thomas Lovejoy

Welcome remarks by
Marc B. Porter, Chairman, Christie’s Americas

Last May the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) published its comprehensive, landmark report on the state of our natural world—and its implications for species, ecosystems, and society are dire. Sir Robert Watson, who chaired the IPBES report, will share its crucial findings, then be joined by Dr. Thomas Lovejoy for a compelling conversation on biodiversity loss and current progress on global goals.

“The best available evidence points to a single conclusion: We must act to halt and reverse the unsustainable use of nature or risk not only the future we want but even the lives we currently lead.” — Sir Robert Watson
