Orchids can be found across the globe, from the Arctic to the Amazon, and even locally in New York City. With over 28,000 known species, new orchids continue to be discovered every year like the Hummingbird Pelexia in the Andes of South America, or the Appalachian Ladies’ Tresses found right here in New York State. During this virtual Gallery Talk, Matthew Pace, Assistant Curator of the William and Lynda Steere Herbarium, will introduce Members to newly found species and share his ongoing research efforts to better understand the evolution of this beautiful and diverse family of plants.
