Perennial Garden in Fall.

Minimizing the Waste Stream

The Garden participates in all of the recycling programs provided by the NYC Department of Sanitation, including plastics, bottles and cans, paper and cardboard, and metals. In addition to these programs, the Garden also recycles all refrigerants, burned out lamps, ballasts, and any motor oils. The cafes at the Garden have three separate trash bins so that the waste products can be separated and recycled or composted by the private vendor. Some of the items that can be composted are food scraps, napkins, cups, and plastic ware.
