Inside The New York Botanical Garden

Morning Eye Candy: Rare Angle

It’s not just inside the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory where the preparations for Monet’s Garden are taking place. Behind the landmark building, in the Courtyard Pools, the Garden’s horticulture staff are preparing the stars of the show; water lilies, including some varieties that Monet grew at Giverny.

Only the water lilies in the hardy pool, the one directly behind the Conservatory’s show galleries are included in Monet’s Garden. Monet could only grow these hardy types at temperate Giverny.

But at the Garden we grow tropical water lilies as well, and while they are not included in the show, the reflection on this pool–taken from a very rare angle–was too beautiful not to share.
