Seasonal Walk’s enthusiastic growth creates a spectacle of colors and shapes in summer, something we’re always willing to encourage as the lushness of the season takes center stage in the Garden.

While the Rose Garden may be garnering plenty of attention for its reds and pinks right now, missing the elegant hues of the hibiscus in the Home Gardening Center would be a mistake.

One of the things I love about this time of year is that all of the outdoor gardens surrounding the Haupt Conservatory—the Home Gardening Center, Perennial Garden, Seasonal Walk, and Ladies’ Border among them—are teaming with bumblebees doing their important work. But my personal favorite place to shoot them is Daffodil/Daylily Walk. The blazing oranges, purples, and other colors serve as a fantastic backdrop to my winged friends.

In what’s quickly becoming my favorite appearance of the year, the ‘Bridal Silk’ poppies of the Perennial Garden are once again touting the simple and clean.
