It’s been a whirlwind of cherry blossoms at the Garden this week, with our Japanese cherries, plums, and apricots going from the quiet of winter to the full bloom of spring in just a handful of days. They’re currently at 90% of the way to peak bloom, which means this weekend is likely your last chance to see them in all their seasonal splendor.

I love this tree, a crab apple, near the Mosholu Gate entrance, but I am always worried someone will think I have mistyped its name when I post pictures of it. But I assure you, it’s not a typo. I have checked and checked again and this tree’s name really is ‘Burgandy.’
And the ghostly, creamy colored little tree of leaves
white, ivory white among the rambling greens
how evanescent, variegated eider, she hesitates on the green grass
as if, in another moment, she would disappear
with all her grace of foam!
Things are moving fast here at the Garden; each day brings word of another extraordinarily beautiful plant that has burst into bloom. So, while we’re closed today (but we’ll be open next Monday, April 25), we thought we would share with you some of the amazing flowering trees that are in bloom around our 250-acres. Of course, just as plants burst into flower, they also stop flowering, too, so we cannot guarantee that all of these will still be in bloom when you visit.
