The week is over, and the humidity is gone with it. Take advantage of the pleasant outdoors this weekend at NYBG with a full schedule of tours, programs, and activities for all ages—including our ongoing exhibition FRIDA KAHLO: Art, Garden Life.
We’re already looking towards a gorgeous autumn here at the Garden, with a whole new season of wonderful programs. The annual Edible Academy Family Picnic takes place on September 27, and this year’s exclusive benefit for the future of NYBG’s children’s organic vegetable gardening program will feature more activities and special guests than ever.

Sunday happens to be the day that we show Dad how much we care, but NYBG’s starting things early with a Saturday night event! Tickets are still available for the Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of My Father) Concert on Saturday, June 20. This evening concert features The Villalobos Brothers and Humberto Flores, as well as Mexican soprano Gizel Xanath. La Casa Azul Taco Truck will be open, or you can enjoy the perfect Frida al Fresco evening by making a reservation at Hudson Garden Grill (final reservations at 5:45 p.m. unless otherwise noted) for a full-service dining experience in our newly opened restaurant. Each Frida al Fresco ticket includes a complimentary Modelo Especial draft cerveza or Jose Cuervo Tradicional margarita!
The Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden will have plenty of seasonal family activities, from Dig! Plant! Grow! to cooking demonstrations at the Whole Foods Market® Family Garden Kitchen. So, whenever you plan to start celebrating your Father’s Day Weekend, we’ll have something going to make it special.

Only two nights left to enjoy Frida al Fresco Evenings featuring Jenny Holzer! June 12 & 13 are the last of this special series of four consecutive nights that culminate in a program of scrolling light projections at the Garden’s iconic Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, presented by internationally renowned artist Jenny Holzer, The New York Botanical Garden, and the Poetry Society of America. After the usual Frida al Fresco fun, featuring live music, food, and cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m., waves of poetry will sweep over the landmark building from dusk until 10 p.m. (weather permitting).
Families this weekend can bring their appetite to NYBG for more delicious and nutritious and educational cooking demonstrations from the Whole Foods Market® Family Garden Kitchen in the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden. Happy Friday! Once again it is time for our weekly roundup of weekend programs and activities at the Garden. June 6 & 7 is Rose Garden Weekend!
This popular highlight of the season’s Spring Weekend offerings at NYBG is when we invite you all to enjoy the seasonal beauty of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden‘s nearly 700 rose cultivars! According to Rose Watch, they are now at 75% of peak color, and and rapidly climbing toward full bloom. Admire the vibrant blooming season with live music, refreshments, and expert-led tours and talks—a beautiful experience for everyone from casual rose admirers to experienced rosarians. You can even take part in a rose gardening demonstration.

This weekend is NYBG’s annual celebration of the groundbreaking botanical science and research that takes place at the Garden all year round. Partake in behind-the-scenes tours with our scientists and more during the Annual Science Open House through May 31!
Saturday, May 30, is the next of our special series of Frida al Fresco evenings, featuring cocktails, shopping, and live music. During the day, film screenings and performers bring Frida’s world to life. Enhance the experience with the Frida Mobile Guide, created with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies, which allows you to create your own Frida-style selfie. Decorate your selfie with elements drawn from Frida’s artwork, and share it to social media with #FridaNYBG.
