Leccinum andinum Halling

This bolete was originally described from oak forests near Medellin, Colombia (Mycotaxon 34: 106. 1989). It is now known from two sites near Cerro de la Muerte in the Cordillera Talamanca where it occurs with Quercus costaricensis, Q. seemanii, & Q. copeyensis. Characteristics include a brown cap, bright yellow colors, and a blue oxidation reaction when bruised.
