One of a few red-pored boletes known from Costa Rica, this species is known only from one collection on Cerro Cacao in Guanacaste Province where it was associated with Quercus brenesii. The stipe is reticulate with a red pruina over a yellow ground, the pileus is brown, and all parts of the basidioma change to blue when injured.
