Amanita polypyramis (Berk. & Curt.) Sacc.

The basidiome is large, white with easily removable, powdery volval remnants and the odor is slightly pungent. The specimen shown at left came from under Quercus oleoides at the Agua Thermales area in sector Santa Maria on Rincon de la Vieja of the Guanacaste Conservation Area. The determination was kindly provided by Dr. R. Tulloss.
