Marasmius cohaerens var. lachnophyllus (Berk.) Gilliam
Photographs by R. E. Halling ©, 1996-2001
Another member of sect. Sicci, this taxon has abundant thick-walled setae on the crowded, narrow lamellae and on the stipe, and broom cells on the pileus surface. These thick-walled setae give a grayish red color to the lamellae. According to Desjardin (unpublished data), the lamellae of var. cohaerens are distant to subdistant and cream buff or pinkish buff in color. Also, the stipe is usually glabrous or only weakly pruinose at the apex.
