Photograph by R. E. Halling © 2003 This Tricholoma is uncommon in Costa Rica. We have only seen it at high elevation (>3000 m) where it appears to be associated with Comarostaphylis arbutoides. The material illustrated here was found in the páramo on the summit of Cerro de la Muerte. The brownish squamules, greenish yellow colors, and farinaceous odor and taste are good field characters. It could be confused with T. palustre, a sympatric taxon.
