The material at left agrees with Singer's concept of R. foetens. The pileus is viscid, the spores have isolated, amyloid warts, and the odor and taste are unpleasant. This taxon has been reported from under Quercus oleoides in Guanacaste previously (Singer, et al. 1983. Beih. Nova Hedwigia 77: 260.).
