The orange brown basidiomata, pinkish flesh colored, subdistant to distant lamellae, and globose to ellipsoid basidiospores with relatively short spines are characteristics of this taxon. It appears to be widely distributed in the north temperate zone under oaks and pines and under Nothofagus in south temperate South America. Variety pallidifolia seems to be the most commonly encountered subspecific taxon. Frequently found on disturbed soil.
