Collybia plectophylla (Mont.) Singer

The mushroom depicted here is widespread in the Neotropics across a broad elevational range. The yellow colors, intervenose lamellae, and lignicolous habit are diagnostic. Unfortunately, the epithet is misapplied here. In the protologue, Montagne described a taxon that is ". . .albo-rubello ad griseo-vinosum. . ." and ". . .e rubello violaceus, . . ." which is clearly not the agaric above. Montagne's fungus sounds more like a Mycena of the holoporphyra group.
