Harrya atriceps Halling, G.M. Muell. & Osmundson Image © R.E. Halling 2012 This is a rarely encountered taxon, having been found only twice over a period of 10 years of biannual collecting. Harrya atriceps was illustrated previously by Halling and Mueller in the Talamanca Field Guide, although not formally described. Phylogenetic inference has indicated it is indeed a distinct taxon, allied to H. chromapes. It is easily distinguished from that more routinely encountered taxon by virtue of the black pileus and a lack of pink scabers. Scabers are present, however, along with the chrome yellow to cadmium orange pigmentation in the stipe base. |
