Amanita virosa (Fr.) Bertillon

This Amanita was just found in the Cordillera Talamanca under Quercus rapurahuensis and Q. copeyensis in the vicintiy of La Chonta. A membranous saccate volva sheathing a subulbous stipe that displays a pendant annulus along with non-striate pileus margin and white colors overall are good field characters. Four-spored basidia distinguish it from A. bisporigera. Deadly poisonous.
