Epiphytic shrub with branches pendent to 2 m long; mature stems terete, striate, glabrous, reddish-gray; bark cracking longitudinally; twigs of new growth terete to complanate and bluntly angled, nitid, glabrous, reddish-brown; pseudo-stipules absent. Leaves coriaceous, slightly revolute when fresh, elliptic to lance-elliptic, 5.5-8 x 1.2-2.4 cm, basally rounded and shortly attenuate, apically sharply long caudate-acuminate with the tips 2-3 cm long, marginally entire, glabrous but minutely glandular-fimbriate beneath; 3(-5)-plinerved, the midrib strongly impressed and conspicuous above and raised beneath, the lateral nerves arising from near the base, slightly impressed above and raised beneath but inconspicuous on both surfaces; petioles subterete, conspicuously canaliculate above, reddish-brown, glabrous, 8-9 mm long. Inflorescence axillary, racemose, 4-7-flowered; rachis subterete to bluntly angled, glabrous, 1.6-3 cm long; pedicels 18-22 mm long at anthesis, more or less abruptly swelling distally (ca. 0.3 mm diam. basally to 3.3 mm diam. distally when dry), the tip also provided with numerous minute glands at the point of articulation; floral bract persistent, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, 1-1.5 mm long; bracteoles subopposite, located about midway along the pedicel, ca. 1 mm long, marginally with a few glandular-fimbriae. Flowers with calyx glabrous, 3.2-4 mm long; hypanthium cylindric to pentagonal, basally truncate, 2.2 mm long x 2.8 mm diam.; limb campanulate; lobes 5, triangular, acute, ca. 1 mm long; sinuses broadly rounded; flower buds long-conical, pink; corolla urceolate, terete, basally swollen, glabrous, cream-white but apically pink, 9-10 mm long x 5 mm diam. at base, the lobes 5, strongly reflexed at anthesis, ca. 2 mm long; stamens 10, equal, ca. 8 mm long; filaments equal, ligulate, slightly connate at base, ca. 4.5 mm long, densely short-pilose in distal half to three-quarters; anthers ca. 4.5 mm long including the tubules; thecae bases slightly prolonged; disc annular, fleshy; ovary 3-4-celled; style glabrous, 7-8 mm long. Mature fruit a globose, dark blue-black berry, ca. 4 mm diam.
Distribution. Endemic to Colombia (Antioquia),
and known only from ca. four collections from the type locality.
