Saturday, July 15, 2017

9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Meet the tour guide by 9:30 a.m. at the Cypress Avenue 6 Train stop (in front of Iglesia De Dios). Tour leaves promptly at 10:00 a.m. Returns at 2:30 p.m.

This tour features the bounty of fresh food grown here in the Bronx and available at local farmers markets. Padre Plaza Community Garden boasts food production, a Wednesday market, and seasonal events in the garden. Brook Park is a community hub for green growth, not just of plants but of people. We’ll stop at the South Bronx Farmers Market to allow for some shopping of farm-fresh produce on the way to our final stop, La Finca del Sur Urban Farm, whose crops contribute to the community market. In partnership with Bronx Green-Up of The New York Botanical Garden, The Bronx Tourism Council, Montefiore, GreenThumb/NYC Parks, La Familia Verde, and Mary Mitchell Family and Youth Center.
