Earth Day Documentary Premiere: Plants and People of Vanuatu

Thursday, April 22, 2021

6 – 7 p.m.

Join NYBG for the screening of an inspiring new documentary about the plants, people, and culture of the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. Locally produced in partnership with the Vanuatu Department of Forestry, this film highlights the shared mission of a diverse group of plant scientists, ethnobotanists, mycologists, cultural specialists, linguists, and community members to preserve plants, fungi, ethnobotanical knowledge, cultural practices, and language in the Pacific islands. The screening will be followed by a conversation and audience Q&A with NYBG scientists Gregory Plunkett, Ph.D., and Michael Balick, Ph.D., who have co-led the Plants and People of Vanuatu project since 2016.
