Exhibit Lab: Mind-Altering Plants
Through August 20
10 a.m.–6 p.m. | Ross Gallery
For thousands of years humans have relied on plants for food, shelter, and medicine. Many plants have evolved to produce bioactive chemicals that can have an array of effects on the human body—from healing antioxidants to those that affect the brain and nervous system, including everything from energizing caffeine to the powerful sedative opium. In this mini exhibit visitors can learn more about these powerful plants, the role many play in both daily life and sacred ritual, and the promise and potential these plants may hold for the future.
Exhibit Lab is an initiative through which NYBG presents future exhibition subjects and prototypes for visitor feedback.
