Pumpkin Smash

Don’t let those Halloween pumpkins go to waste. Bring your pumpkins, jack-o’-lanterns, and gourds for a smashing good time! You smash them and Lehman College will repurpose them into compost, which will be used to revitalize the soils in City parks, community gardens, and other green spaces. If you don’t have your own pumpkin, choose one of the many pumpkins there to smash.

Pumpkin Smash is designed to help divert seasonal organic waste from landfills as well as educate people on composting and food waste reduction. We encourage you to take an edible pumpkin home, and enjoy pumpkin bread tastings, recipes, activities, and more!
