The New York Botanical Garden is the place to be for school breaks! Our 250 acre campus inspires amazing adventures in all types of weather and seasons. Kids spend time making friends, exploring new ideas and trying new activities in a safe and engaging day camp environment.
Science-, gardening- and nature-themed Day Camps for kids in Grades K–8 feature outdoor explorations, science investigations, and behind-the-scenes tours. Each week takes full advantage of the Garden’s vast plant collection and unique habitats like the Edible Academy’s vegetable garden, 50-acre native forest, wetlands, and Native Plant Garden.

2025 Winter and Spring Break Camps

February 18–21; 9 a.m.–3 p.m.* (Tuesday–Friday)
$336 Member | $378 Non-MemberCampers chill out with fun science experiments, games, and hands-on activities during Winter Break Camp. Kids explore states of matter by turning liquids into solids and investigate adaptations that allow plants and animals to survive cold, icy winters. They warm up with visits to the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory’s tropical and desert collections to compare the plants growing in these environments.
*Early drop-off (8 a.m.), late pickup (5 p.m.), and extended pickup (until 6 p.m.) available on a weekly basis. Pre-registration is required; register here. Weekly fees: $60 per morning or afternoon, and $120 for extended pickup. Late fees apply if children are picked up after their designated checkout time.

Using the Edible Academy’s greenhouse, classroom building, and gardens, campers will investigate plant growth and learn all about vegetables. Children will engage in hands-on gardening, learn about sustainability, and participate in culinary and crafting activities.

Weekly fees: $75 per morning or afternoon, and $150 for extended pickup. Late fees apply if children are picked up after their designated checkout time.

From woodland walks, sensory play and nature crafts, these little explorers will experience science and nature first hand. Must be fully toilet-trained.

Do you have a tween who loves spending time outdoors, collecting data, and working in teams? Students will get wet and dirty as they learn more about the plants and animals on the Garden grounds and go behind the scenes to find out about field research happening at the Garden, in the city, and around the world!
