Bronx Middle Schoolers Explore Nature with Con Edison STEM Days Out
Con Edison STEM Days Out, now in their eighth year, took place on Friday, October 27 with Bronx Writing Academy middle school students. More than 60 sixth graders took conservation action during the GreenSchool workshop, Save Our Native Plants! They documented the flora of the northeastern United States in a designed woodland, wetland, and meadow, then they made seed balls, using clay, compost, and wildflower seeds to sow native plants.
This interdisciplinary curriculum provides students with hands-on experiential learning and is a catalyst for building Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. GreenSchool workshops also support NYC Science Scope and Sequence, and the NY State Science Core Curriculum.
