At the onset of the pandemic, NYBG’s Bronx Green-Up joined with urban farms and gardens throughout the Bronx to create the Bronx Community Farm Hubs program, ensuring fresh fruits and vegetables would go to those in need during a trying time.

In total, 18 community gardens and NYBG’s Edible Academy joined together to raise, harvest, and deliver over 11,000 lbs. of fresh greens, herbs, peppers, tomatoes, beans, and so much more to local organizations such as POTS, “pay what you can” harvest boxes, public “friendly fridges,” schools, hospitals, NYCHA senior housing, community-run farmers markets, soup kitchens, and food pantries. Get to know some of the gardens taking part in this important program, and the volunteers who make it all possible.
