We’re back with another Plants as Liberation talk, where Arvolyn Hill, Manager of the Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, interviews BIPOC herbalists, houseplant enthusiasts, farmers, and gardeners to learn how they’re using plants as powerful means of expression.

In this video, she speaks with plant and interior stylist, best-selling author, and artist Hilton Carter. With the backdrop of NYBG’s lush Azalea Garden and verdant Forest to set the tone, they discuss Carter’s love for houseplants, how this passion started, and why cultivating a connection with living things—and fostering their growth—is so important to his personal life.
