Presently at NYBG: Summer on the Horizon
Marlon Co is the Photographer & Digital Media Manager of The New York Botanical Garden.
Welcome to Presently at NYBG, a weekly showcase of our favorite images highlighting our appreciation and connection to plants and the natural world. Spring is always an active time at NYBG, and on any stroll through our 250 acres you’ll experience signs of life blooming around you. Even now, as the season begins again to turn over a new leaf, one can witness the lushness of life filling the Garden. The returning laughter of school groups matched in intensity with nearby bird songs; a water lily, a rose. The evidence is clear: Summer is on the horizon, but for now here’s what we enjoyed this week.
- This year's first water lily blooms in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory's Courtyard Pools.
- Members took a behind-the-scenes tour of our state-of-the-art Pfizer Laboratory, the hub of plant science at NYBG.
- Rhododendrons have reached their peak bloom of the spring this week in the Maureen K. Chilton Azalea Garden.
- The first roses have opened in the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden as we near summer.
- Some of our youngest students at the Garden, the Nature Explorers, took an adventurous walk through the tropical worlds of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory.
- The Rock Garden hillside in glorious form in the morning light.
- The herbaceous peonies are popping in the Matelich Anniversary Peony Collection.
Stay tuned next week as we continue to explore the happenings here at NYBG and beyond.
