Taxonomic Revision and Phylogenetic Study of Campyloneurum (Polypodiaceae)
Robbin C. Moran and collaborators
Campyloneurum contains about 70 species, all of which are in the American tropics. Many of these species are poorly known, and some are apparently new to science. This project will provide a means to identify them and understand the evolutionary relationships between the species. We are interested the biogeography of the genus, especially the evolutionary radiation that has occurred in the mountains of southeastern Brazil. In this project I am collaborating with Drs. Paulo Labiak and Jefferson Prado, two well-known Brazilian students of ferns. Funding will be sought from the U.S. National Science Foundation.
