It’s been a busy past two weeks in Cali, Colombia, as our scientists took part in #COP16, and we’re back with a recap of this important event. 🌎

Delegates from over 180 nations gathered in Colombia for @unbiodiversity’s biodiversity conference to discuss solutions to the crises our planet faces. Among them was NYBG's own delegation, including CEO Jennifer Bernstein; Chief Science Officer Dr. @mauriciodiazgranados; VP of Urban Conservation Dr. @ewsanderson; and Drs. Aleca Borsuk and Evelyn Beaury, each NYBG Assistant Curators. The critical work by this team advances real-world solutions around conservation, restoration, land use, regenerative agriculture—and plants, people, and culture. Alongside the stunning colors and crafts of our Fa

Alongside the stunning colors and crafts of our Fall Forest Weekend activities, our Kiku—trained Japanese chrysanthemums—are this weekend’s brightest stars. 🌟

Inside the Nolen Greenhouses, you’ll find sculptural plants that represent 11 MONTHS of meticulous work by our horticulture team, resulting in a world of flowers to explore that’s unlike anything you’ll see this season. Down the rabbit hole Alice goes! This year's giant pumpkin carving took us to Wonderland for the final weekend of our exhibition. 🕳️🐇

BIG thanks to this year's carvers, @lennycalvincreations, @ahead.of.the.carve, @adambierton, and @theartsylefty for their hard work and unmatched skills in pulling off this frightfully imaginative scene in only ONE weekend. You'll still be able to catch the finished pumpkin in our Visitor Center until November 3 (or as long as it holds together!) And while Wonderland: Curious Nature and Fall-O-Ween may be over at NYBG, there's plenty of fall left to enjoy the beauty of the foliage here in NYC's most colorful landscape.

Big, bigger, BIGGEST—the giant pumpkins have arr

Big, bigger, BIGGEST—the giant pumpkins have arrived in time for this weekend, and they're truly monumental! 🎃🙌

Starting with a 2207-lb. beast from Ron and Dick Wallace in Rhode Island and followed by a gargantuan 2,457-lb. pumpkin from Barry LeBlanc in New Hampshire, you might have a hard time believing these are real. The cherry on top is the BIGGEST PUMPKIN WE'VE EVER HAD with Earl Thompson's 2,670-lb. behemoth from Michigan, the 2nd largest in the WORLD this year.

Come meet the growers this Saturday and Sunday, watch them open up and deseed these giants (from the inside!), and get your questions in about how they're possible!

Join Dr. Harris for a symposium featuring a conversation with @chefkwameonwuachi, creator of NYC’s renowned restaurant Tatiana (@tatianabychefkwame) at @LincolnCenter, as well as a panel of trailblazing food scholars and community organizers who contributed to the creation of the African American Garden here at NYBG. They’ll explore the rich stories of memories and belonging told by the plants in the garden over these years, and welcome you to the closing ceremony at the collection.
