Winged seeds of Cariniana micrantha.


Cebus apella can destroy 99% of the seeds of C. micrantha (Peres, 1991). Just before the fruits are about to open, the monkeys rip them free at their pedicels, bang them against the tree trunk and branches to open the lid, and eat the seeds at the base of the wing.
